Blossom time, a full sales area and a walk in the borders

All the apple trees in the orchard are covered in blossom about to open, don't those buds look good against the blue sky
💙

The sales area is filled up so there's lots of choice and fabulous plants ready to go to their new homes, pots, compost, plant supports and wee shop stuff too.

Listening back to this Im surprised it made any sense, what a day! Last Wednesday was a day, thanks to the amazing weather, our lovely customers and all the deliveries, whew.

Huge thanks to my ever patient hubby for being in this week to help out while Isabel is away ❤️ team work. Seven full Dutch trolleys up that hill is better than any gym work out.

Weekly round up - Last week in the nursery and gardens the sun brought every one else and it was wonderful to see the nursery so busy with lots of customers, new and returning, it was lovely to feel the warmth and see the sun and feel spring had truly arrived, but……. There were also low temperatures and a touch of frost some nights so we were still chucking a fleece over the annuals and some plants just out the tunnel and then having to water during the day as it was warm. The weather always keeps us on our toes.
While Isabel was away last week I had hubby in helping out. He would like it to be known in no way ever will I make him a horticulturalist, gardener and so on but he did a very good job of unpacking, pricing and putting the water plants away in the sales area on Wednesday. This was a huge help as just as we unloaded the water plants in the nursery our latest delivery of trees, shrubs and climbers arrived! The sales area is now stuffed full of our fabulous plants and a wee top up of trees, shrubs and climbers and roses which we haven’t had for a while, there should be something for everyone and if you can’t find it just ask 😊
David got a lot of wee tasks done, fixes and all those odd jobs no one notices but make a huge difference behind the scenes, so that is all much appreciated.
It was great to see MT and catch up when she dropped off the latest edition of Scotland Grows Magazine magazine, which you can buy here in the nursery. Packed full of great articles for Scottish gardeners by Scottish gardeners, its well worth buying and keeping to refer back to.
In between helping all our lovely customers I managed to finally finish the spring clean and lots of propagation in tunnel one. This is where our alpines, herbs and summer interest plants live so they are all looking much better and ready for sale.
On Saturday Fiona got a lot of cuttings and prop done and a few jobs I just hadn’t got to over the week so it was a satisfying catch up day and clearing the potting bench ready to start all over again on Wednesday.
More perennial seeds are germinating which is very exciting as these are seed harvested from the garden and they have been very successful, meaning more plants eventually for our customers.
Other than that the gardens continue to flourish and colour up, every day there is a new flower out or plant emerging after winter, its such an exciting time of year. Pick up one of our leaflets to see what else to look for if you visit and watch out for the swallows, they should be back any day now.
You can also catch up with what else is happening in my blog, which is usually a week behind, at least at this time of year, as its so busy. There are always places we’ve visited and recommend, a sneaky peak of my own garden and lots more.

I’m enjoying a very restful day walking in the borders enjoying the sun, already to start again on Wednesday. see you soon.

Love a blue with a pop of pink

On Monday the weather forecast was good for our day off together so we took my new car for a spin through the borders to Bonchester Bridge to do a walk I fancied doing 😎

It was a great walk to de-stress and enjoy some quiet after a super busy week at the nursery. A mix of quiet country roads, fields and up to the top of Bonchester Hill to see the hill fort. Lunch at the top and amazing views over the whole of the borders with the breeze and bird song in the background before heading back down and back to the car. Maisie had a great time, like me she loves a new walk and visiting somewhere new.

You can read a full write up of the walk here: A Walk from Bonchester Bridge
