Winter is not done with us yet

Another week of wet, windy and just downright grey, miserable weather. The work still needs done though and as the weeks pass swiftly towards the nursery re opening after winter, I've just got wrapped up and on with it. There's lots of deliveries arriving for the wee shop which is getting a bit of a revamp this year with some new shelves and some fantastic new items, unless I keep them all to my self, lol.

No matter the weather there are always indoor jobs to do here in the nursery and at home. Last weekend I sorted out some bulbs for an indoor display bringing the garden into the house for those dismal winter days, potting up some Amaryllis, Narcissus 'Tete a Tete', paperwhites and Hyacinths for an indoor display.

Here’s a wee preview of the new items in our wee shop when we open on 7th March as well as all the usual favs which we have stocked up on. There are also a new range of plant supports on the way and exterior pots including a new range of decorative terracotta ๐Ÿ˜ƒ cannae wait ๐Ÿ˜
You can see what else we have in stock on our website, just go to the nursery shop page and scroll down ๐Ÿ™‚

What's your favourite plant or probably plants ๐Ÿ˜ƒ I set myself a challenge to come up with my favourite 50 plants and struggled to limit it too 100 lol ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
You can find out my top 100 plants in my blog , maybe it will give you some inspiration for your own garden this year and of course most of them are available in the nursery to see in the gardens and to buy once we open on 7th March.

This week……… started with some dryish weather meaning progress with the garden tidy up and getting all the compost bins turned over and emptied without getting drenched. David came in on Monday and did bin 2 and I did bin 3 on Tuesday, a big job but very satisfying and we now have room for all the leaves and debris from the garden tidy up. The score was six toads (they do like the compost bins) and 2 pencils! ✏️๐Ÿธ✏️๐Ÿธ
The stream garden has been tidied (any excuse for a paddle) and the large entrance bed is done, so its all looking good from the gates. I also re-did one of the willow bank retainers with some of the left-over willow rods. The rainy weather was back on Wednesday and it was a wet miserable day but I did persevere and get the large entrance bed finished. We’ve had lots of lovely new items delivered for the wee shop and I’m working through all the alpines in tunnel one getting them ready for sale and doing some propagation along the way ๐ŸŒง️๐ŸŒง️๐ŸŒง️
Its great to have Isabel back in the nursery though the weather hasn’t been welcoming. Thursday was definitely not a day to be outdoors so she got all the tunnels weeded and cut back ready for spring and then I had to call a snow day on Friday but we will make up for it next week hopefully ๐ŸŒจ️๐ŸŒจ️๐ŸŒจ️
I’ve tested out the houseplant leaf cleaning gloves we will have for sale and they are really good! The leaves are shiny and look much better, and such an easy way to do it with no water or chemicals. My houseplants looked loved ๐Ÿงค
Into the nursery on Sunday as youngest son Dan was in to build a stand for all our lovely plant supports, I mean if you need something built who you gonna call…. Dan the engineer and also the plan was to catch up on the snow day off. The plant supports are going to be much more obvious and look fab. David put up new shelves in the wee shop for even more amazing wee shop things. I got some of last years woody material cut down in the snow which was melting nicely until the rain started that quickly turned into very heavy snow………which then turned into a very “interesting” drive home. I’m definitely going to have to pull some extra days in the nursery to catch up so we are ready to open ๐Ÿ˜ฉ
