Just like that Christmas is over and its time to look forwards

We are excited to launch our workshops for 2026 which are now available to book online on our Nursery Shop page on the website.

We have 2 new workshops next year -
Gardening with grasses (one in spring and one in autumn) Everything you need to know about growing ornamental grasses in your garden. Which grasses to grow and where (and which ones to not grow). Grasses for different gardening conditions. Includes a walk around the nursery gardens looking at all the grasses we grow.
One to one propagation workshop - Covering different types of cuttings, seed sowing and division. Working alongside Rona in the polytunnel to gain experience of these different types of propagation. Included in the price is the pot of cuttings, pot of seeds sown and the plant you have divided and potted up. All details are on our website. This would make a great gift for someone.

A wee treat at Cocoa Black this, its so
hard to choose which confection to have

New Christmas lights in the porch

Saturday and A busy day delivering gift vouchers about the toon, picking up food for christmas from great local indi shops, Fat Batard, Rola Mor and the Super Store. We are so lucky to have so many fabulous shops on our doorstep in Peebles Highstreet and around the area. All my christmas shopping again was done in local indi shops, antique shops and charity shops, keeping my money in my local area 💖Back home to finish turning the compost heaps then an afternoon in the kitchen making 4 dozen mincemeat pies, Welsh cakes, marzipan on the cake and the wrapping of christmas presents started 🤩

I always think Heron's look odd up in trees

Into the nursery on Sunday to get some new plant stock potted, the tunnels watered and a few bits n pieces sorted out. Maisie also approves of Whitmuir cheese scones for lunch.

First page of December in my watercolour journal, a great excuse to get the sparkly paints out 😊

The bletting and cooking of our medlars was a great success 😃
You can read all about the process and results in the first link and the Medlar Part one blog in the second, enjoy.

Merry Christmas from us all here in Peebles
A chaotic happy houseful, love time with family

Christmas food for family ❤

Boxing day walk along the river

On Sunday we had a day out to the south of the Borders today to Newcastleton in which we did a circular walk along the river and old railway line and back to the town. Maisie was queen of the tumble down tower and we found a graveyard of farm machinery. We had a lovely lunch in the Olive Tree on the main road, great food and lovely staff. Do stop there if your passing through, not dog friendly but Maisie was fine in the car after her walk. Meandered back via Hermitage, Shankend and Hawick.

I've completed the first two pages of December in my watercolour journal, some for fun, some for practice
