Our winter time off got off to a good start with a trip to Beamish with youngest son on the Monday. The weather was great and a smooth run down and back. We hadn't realised it was half term in England so the queue to get in was lengthy, but its such a big site, it absorbs the people. The popular areas were busy like the town and eating places. We explored the collery area and the pit houses, the school and then the railway station and a walk through the town. We didnt even have time to see the 1940's farm or 1950's farm, the 1820's landscape but the ticket lasts a year so we will make a point of going back to see the rest before the year runs out.
A lovely lunch with Betty today, a belated birthday lunch with great food and service at Linlithgow golf club. She is also cat sitting our grand old lady Poppy when we are away on holiday
I would like to thank everyone for all the donations we received this year, raising £125 in the charity can from books out the wee library, willow rods in January and your change when you shopped with us and £360 from our 2 charity days.
This all goes towards the charity we support each year, Breast Cancer Now in memory of my sister Mhairi, pictured below at David and I's wedding in August 2017. Tragically at the age of 45 my sister passed away just 3 months later at the end of November. She was treated for breast cancer in 2015 and sadly the cancer came back in other parts of her body and the diagnosis was not good.
Anyone who has been through cancer themselves or with a loved one will know how frustrating and devastating it can be, physically, mentally and emotionally (I also lost my wonderful Dad and a close Uncle to cancer). Charities that support those dealing with cancer have a huge part to play and that's why we donate to Breast Cancer Now, I couldn't help my sister survive, but I and everyone who donates can make someone else's experience hopefully a little bit easier

Its always a good feeling to finally get caught up on all the blogs and now time to go away for a couple of weeks and see new places, explore and relax, see you when we get back x
