Blink and you'll miss May if you run a super busy plant nursery that's growing and keeping you busy, and working on your garden at home, tying to see family and oh yes breath lol! The weather was glorious and I managed to not get too stressed about keeping everything watered thanks to David's improvements to our water system over winter. The weather certainly encouraged customers to visit and its been madly wonderfully busy - thank you. I am exhausted, the health issues while not as scary as first thought at the beginning of the year are causing me exhaustion like nothing I've had before, and I am usually super energetic and on the go, this is not me. Still the show goes on and here we are running to catch up, keep up, carried along by our lovely customers, staff, friends and family.
Glorious May in the nursery and gardens
Why not come and see for yourself, we are open Wedensday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm, with a large selection of hardy tough fabulous plants grown on site and much more including trees, shruns, water plants, pots, compost, climbers, grasses, plants for shade, great advice, lots in our wee shop and the inspiring gardens to wander around. Grab a take away coffee (or what ever your drink of choice is) from the cafe and enjoy a relaxing moment on one of our many benches. .jpg) |

Views of the nursery gardens this week in the brilliant sunshine |

Early starts and late finishes to keep everything watered and get all the busy season jobs done.
Making the most of the dry weather to get the monet bridge painted, just in time for its 10th birthday
Its nearly a month since I last painted, life is just so busy with the nursery and I’m shattered when I get home. Slowly starting to feel better and get some energy back which is good, better than I was at the beginning of the year. Anyhoo, I thought I’d re-start with something simple – so here’s a right pair of ink and wash gnarly pears

This week is brought to you powered by wine pills and coffee |
What a day, another hot and sunny one, lots of lovely customers and the railway running. And if that wasn't enough, as we had family visiting for the day and Fiona was working so we decided to get tunnel two finally covered before the weather changes and as we had enough helpers. Team work really is what makes Quercus work and huge thanks to David, Fiona, Dan and Adam for great work getting the tunnel covered in record time and to Betty for manning the counter while we got the cover in place.

A real step forward for the nursery, now to fill the rest of the tunnel
Thanks to Fiona for some of the photos

When you work for OOni Pizza ovens it would be rude not to have one and have family as guinea pigs
Finally got a paper copy of the article about Quercus last month and it looks even better in print. Thanks to Agnes for writing it. Its always good to get word out there about Quercus and what we do here in the nursery and garden.
Apart from another appointment with the dentist (me) we have been building my new greenhouse at home
We are still talking, which is good, hopefully by tomorrow afternoon it will be finished and I can rescue what’s left of my tender plant collection after the greenhouse disaster of last year. Lovely to enjoy the good weather in our own garden, lunch outside and see the final piece of my grand plan for the back garden come together
photos of all that once its finished. Here is the back garden in the glorious evening light.

Oh how lovely it all looks. Having a good team helps so much, and it's great to read about all the team efforts that make your nursery thrive. May went far too fast as always!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't do this without my team these days, they are fabulous, and where did May go?
