Into our second week of being open and its been lovely to catch up with everyone and lots of new customers too, which is great. We are super busy with all the work that needs done too and looking forward to some warmer weather soon, hopefully.
We have lots of bulbs for sale coming into flower. Perfect for the garden or in pots for spring colour year after year. We also have pots and compost, and lots of other plants to go along with the bulbs.
Spring is springing.
We're open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm
See you soon

I bought these vintage bread tins and have filled them with wee nature finds from beaches and
woodland walks (PS there's one for sale in the nursery wee shop)

I harvested the first lemons from my tree yesterday, they've taken a whole year to form from the flowers I hand pollinated last year.

Crocus, inspired by my favourite crocus growing in my garden and at the nursery |
We are discontinuing our range of Auricula Primula, so if you are a collector of these stunning primulas or want to start a collection, then we have them all out for sale now with many of them coming into flower.
Specially bred varieties such as these need an extra level of care, especially in winter where they need to be kept out of cold wet conditions, ideally in an unheated greenhouse or conservatory. They need light and occasional watering through winter.
Once they are gone they are gone, we won’t be propagating any more. There are some gorgeous varieties and limited numbers including:
Primula auricula 'Callender Park'
Primula auricula 'Chaffinch'
Primula auricula 'Gizabroon'
Primula auricula 'Helen Ruane'
Primula auricula 'Joel'
Primula auricula 'Joy'
Primula auricula 'Kusum Krishna'
Primula auricula 'Lemon Drop'
Primula auricula 'Lemon Sorbert'
Primula auricula marginata 'Linda Pope'
Primula auricula 'Mojave'
Primula auricula 'Osborne Green'
Primula auricula 'Star Wars'
Primula auricula 'Sunray'
Primula auricula 'Trouble'
Its been another busy week and I can’t believe its Sunday night already. We’ve loved chatting and helping all our lovely customers who’ve visited this week.
In the sales area, plants are flying off the tables, especially the potted spring bulbs and heathers. Alpines are now out for sale and our auricula primula which we are discontinuing are also out for sale

The new tunnel is really filling up now and we are almost ready to cover the second one, exciting. We’ve almost finished sorting through all the herbs, bringing them over form the borrowed farm tunnel, feeding and topdressing, repotting and sorting then putting them in the new tunnel. Karen who is volunteering with us has been helping tidy them up, speeding up the process, so we can get them out for sale soon

Fiona has been sowing pots and pots of perennial seed, some saved from the gardens here and some new. The annuals she sowed 2 weeks ago are through already, enjoying the warmth of the new tunnel

David has been upgrading our watering system, much needed and especially with the long dry spells we get these days. He’s had lots of plodging around in wellies, cursing water pumps, hoses and his wife

Finally this afternoon I re-planted some of the perennials lifted last autumn from the winter garden. This garden was shortened where the new fence has been put in over winter and we have continued it on the second terrace at the end of the railway garden. The shrubs I relocated in autumn are looking good and it was great to get these other plants in

I don't often pick flowers form the garden, I like to see them out there doing their thing, and most aren't big enough yet, it being a fairly new garden. But the Forsytha is huge and was here when we moved in, so I sneak a few wee branches off to enjoy in the house. I love a blue and yellow combo

A sunny day off still life |
As March heralds in spring and plants start growing the days get longer and busier. Mothers day and then Easter in April starts off times of celebration, reflection, time with family or thinking about those we have lost. Family is such a curious and varied thing these days and means many different things to different people.
Our gardens provide a space to enjoy nature, time to sit on one of our many benches to enjoy nature, and take a moment. You can pick up a take away coffee or drink form the Whitmuir cafe to enjoy on your visit. Whitmuir has lots of events on through spring and the cafe has great food, coffee and cake. The farm shop is full of delicious food too.
We have many gift ideas, not just for mothers day or easter, but also fathers day, birthdays, anniversaries and just because gifts. We also have a range of Rona's watercolour cards in stock too so you can get a card along with the gift, job done.
Open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm, for a more relaxed natural plant buying experience

A busy day in our garden, well for some, but not all
We put new posts in for the fence damaged in the last storm and then I built a base for my stone fountain. It looks a bit isolated but when my new greenhouse (so exciting) arrives and is in situ it will make more sense. Lots of other bits and pieces done too, so nice to be out in the warmth and sun at home. First lunch outside too
