Its beginning to look a lot like christmas

Keeping it seasonal, a sprig of holly

Time to start the Christmas decorations….. I’ve been drying slices of orange to create this hanging which I’ve put in the porch for Christmas. Stung with ivy leaves from the garden and stars cut from orange peel, it’s a simple natural decoration. Downside is its hard to photograph it in the porch with all the white plastic reflecting

😕 something else on the too do list, paint or replace.

I've counted up and paid in the cash from our collection can and we had £75 in it!!! This is from donations for books from our book library, loose change folks didn't want back and for all the other bits and pieces we sell to raise money.
Along with our two Charity open days in the summer we have raised £889.00 for charity this year, the main one being Breast Cancer Now in memory of my sister Mhairi. She didn't survive breast cancer and see her kids grow up but by raising money now for cancer charities hopefully in the future other parents will survive. Breast Cancer now provides vital support for those going through this awful disease.
So thank you thank you thank you for helping us raise money to help this great charity.
Well that was a wet day last week! A trip to Perthshire to visit Yard97 at Robert Workman and then a great lunch in Errol at The Lass O'Gowrie - Scotland. Great friendly staff, lovely place and fab food, we'll definitely be back. The fruity salad was lovely and they are very dog friendly. If you're travelling back and forward to Dundee, it's worth the wee detour. A very wet walk after down towards to the river to give Maisie a walk.

Its a happy flappy Christmas
and all around the house
all you can hear
is the flapping of the ears
attached to Maisie Mouse

We went to the cinema to see Wonka, which was great fun, we haven't been to the movies for ages and ages, it was a lovely treat and we must make an effort to do it again.

Today Poppy cats annual visit to the vet ended up being much more expensive than anticipated then she spent the rest of the day in the huff in the bathroom until tea time when she of course re appeared, her new bed seems to have got the seal of approval. Christmas is almost organised and the tree looks great, just the present shopping to finish, charity donations to organise and some work to finish off at the nursery in between dog wraggling, cat pacifying and anti bah humbug measures (pigs in blankets work great as bribary).

We’ve been in the nursery two days this week, fortunately the weather held, though it looked iffy at
times but we managed to knock the last two large jobs of the year off our to do list – yay! A day and part of this morning saw the lower banks, railway garden banking and the wildflower meadow strimmed and all the material gathered up. I’ve never seen the meadow so wet and it was hard work moving all the strimmings when they were so wet. The rest of the day saw me doing my ghost buster impersonation with my leaf blower and gather up all the leaves in the sales area and down the entrance track. So much tidier. As always much thanks to David for helping out on these big tasks, supplying coffee and the usual dodgy humour.

A lovely day visiting one of our favourite places for lunch and shopping, Mainstreet Trading then to Melrose for a walk and more christmas shopping which is almost done. A walk along Peebles high street tomorrow will see it finished, another task off the list
👍

One of today's tasks was to get my wreaths made and some decorations for the hoose. Foraged cones and lichens from the local woods after the last storm and holly and ivy from our front garden. The wreath bases I made years ago and the containers are all new, purchased on our trip to yard 97 last week. It was also great to used my refurbished potting shed to do this job, even on a cold day it was a great place to work 🤩😍
