The last days of autumn are bright and busy

Its always great to get away on holiday buts its lovely to come home to our wee hoose. After a fairly uneventful 9 hour journey home  it was nice to have a pottering day at home, catching up on everything and checking the nursery is still standing and giving the polytunnels a water. A walk along the river afternoon walking in my new walking boots. Just need to find a space for my latest cornishware acquisition from our rumage through antique shops when we were away.

Spent most of the day in my summer house, time at last to get it sorted so we can use it for sitting, a home for my dolls houses and a place for me to paint in peaceful quiet. For now it’s a bit of a store for things that are being sold or going to family. I got the window film up on the window that faces our neighbours to give them and us a bit of privacy, I love it, its from Hannah Nunn and is called Meadows edge, it has my favourite wild flower, Cow parsley in it. I also polished and cleaned my granny Peddie’s Singer treadle swing machine. I’ve had it for a very long time, and she got it when when she got married in 1933! I have used it years ago, but its a bit rusty now. Its been a bit neglected in storage for the past few years while we’ve moved around, but now it looks fabulous with some wood treatment polish. Then it was time to assess my dolls houses. Being moved 3 times in the past 9 years and being in storage hasn’t done them any favours but they are repairable. A great winter job with some podcast on.

So now back to work and we are excited to launch our Christmas shop for 2023! New for this year are some lovely gardener's hampers, the perfect gift for the gardener in your life. You can also have the chance to buy some Christmas cards painted by myself. Either traditional Christmas scenes or new for 2023 Crazy Maisie's Christmas! Lol. These are prints of original paintings on A6 cards. Perfect for gifting or framing. Of course you can always gft one of our vouchers for any amount over £5.00 to use on any items in the nursery.
See the link below for our Christmas shop.

The leaves might be mostly off the trees but there is still lots of colour if you look. Great to see some blue sky for Maisie and I's walk today. We walked up the north side of the river to Manor Bridge, then up the Sware and back down through South Park wood. A good 5 mile walk to work off the holiday excess. More dolls house fixing in the summer house and finishing off and launching our nursery christmas shop while David was flying.

A collection of wild flowers - buttercup,
scabious, cosmos and bluebells, really happy with this

It's that time of year again, the mincemeat and cake mix are now stewing away in their brandy overnight, ready for cooking tomorrow

A windy, chilly afternoon spent in the kitchen keeping warm baking a cherry cake, a pile of cheese scones (keeps hubby happy), the Christmas cake and bottling the mincemeat.

I have been supervised doing admin. A great job for blustery cold days is getting the stock take onto the nursery database. Once done I can update the nursery website and our RHS Plantfinder entry for 2024. Lots of behind the scenes organisation happens at this time of year so we are ready to get going with all the practical work come January. We have so many plants for next year 🙂

  1. Your baking pictures make me drool - I'd be very happy with that cheese scone pile too :D
Oh dear, it seems your dolls houses have suffered from earthquakes. Will be lovely to see them once you've repaired them!
I love the Maisie Christmas card! <3
