and with it my possessiveness.
The sun warms my back instead of beating on my head ...
The harvest has dwindled,
and I have grown apart from the intense midsummer relationship that brought it on."

Enjoying the front garden |
A relaxing day off at home including walking up to the high street for a cooked breakfast. In the afternoon I got the front and back gardens weeded and tidied. David painted the hand rail at the front steps, its now a shiny black instead of dull grey. Into the back garden and we needed to remove the lilac stump before we can start the base for my summer house (exciting)
Helped along by Maisie of course.
A walk up towards Cademuir from the house then across the style and back through Spoon Wood and Southpark wood. A circular walk of an hour and half with views over Peebles and Manor valley. Home to sort out the manky hoose and do some baking. Never one to waste anything I used the left over egg whites from the Breton butter cake to make meringues.

This week in the nursery we are focused on finishing the stock bed clean up which takes months but is a great job to finally finish. Isabel has been working through the last of the A's and C's and I've been working through lots of plants that have come over from the tunnel and now need potted and into the stock beds. Team work will finally get this big job finished in the next week. The colours in the nursery are very much becoming autumnal and the grasses really come in to their own now.

When hubby brings you take away lunch from Whitmuir cafe
Something for the weekend:
Does your front door need some dressing up, or either side of a gate or path or the entrance to your sittouterie? These two Juniperus 'Blue Arrow' in one of these terracotta pots each and two bags of compost to pot them up normally retail at £201.50 but I am offering them for £150
Exchanging our glut of runner beans at the nursery with Isabel 's glut of all things carrot. These fabulous carrot cake muffins and 2 large Carrots to use love a barter system

How amazing was the weather last Monday, super hot and that blue sky and my day off, yay! Off to East Lothian to the beach, trying to get Maisie swimming, she’s not impressed! Was great to get in for a paddle, the sun on the water was lovely, with gullemots swimming by underwater and sea anemones on the rocks. A visit to Dirleton Castle, where Maisie narrowly avoided being left in the dungeon, nice gardens too. Lunch at Archerfield, great food in the café though and all dog friendly. Sadly they have decided to charge to get into their gardens, which used to be free and worth a visit white there.

A simple rose in a wee bottle
A relaxing day off at home last Tuesday with a walk along the river and back through the woods. The sun through the trees creating fabulous patterns on the ground. So hot again and that blue sky. Poppy was not interested in being outside and Maisie thought she should be on my knee not my book.
