and the new fall not yet born.
The odd uneven time.” - Sylvia Plath
Ahhhhh, August, a busy month beckons, how did we get to August already? Sunny summer August....... I think not! A month of celebrations, anniversaries and birthdays here at home and a much needed sneaky wee holiday. Here in the nursery I have considered building a boat, wishing I could store all that water falling from the sky for times of drought and wondered if the rain would ever stop some days. But we have got lots of work done as usual. Isabel has been busy potting seedlings in the tunnel, Fiona has been potting plants to go to the stock beds and I've been potting, propagating, planning, paddling, plotting..........

Phlox 'David' |
Fragrant Friday - Phlox - I was initially sceptical of Phlox as I had memories of lurid, gaudy pink and leggy-looking plants from my 1970s childhood but there are some beautiful more subtle varieties and many are scented, always a bonus. All flowering in mid- to late summer, they can become a bit tatty further down as the season progresses, so grow something lower in front to hide the ‘bare legs’. May require some form of support for the taller ones.

Throwback Thursday - The wildlife garden in 2016 once the bottle edge was in, it took another two years to get the borders created and planted in 2018 (we got diverted by some wedding that happened in 2017 and building two gardens for this wedding, you’d think it was an important event or something
) The after pictures are from this year
Just a wee short one, Maisie the nursery dog helping shift compost

My two days off this week were much needed and very relaxing. There's one thing about the rain it slows me down I couldn’t get outside to do another bit of garden so I’ve pottered about the house, catching up on things, painted, taken Maisie for a walk. On Monday we went and collected 6 crates of stone for a future garden project and another 2 trips to the tip getting rid of more stuff out the last corner of the back garden in between rain showers. We are working towards our plan for this corner. Grounds works next… A walk this afternoon along the river and back through the tunnel. Now its time to Coorie in for the evening
