Spring is springing, new gardens and walking in the hills

Having finished tidying and propagating all the alpines in the poly tunnel its the turn of all the herbs. This means herbs will be making their way to the sales area over the next week or so which is exciting, especially as we have a good collection of varieties. As I work through the stock beds, tidying, top dressing and potting up new plants there are also plenty barrows of plants coming out of the tunnels and into the stock beds. The weather this week has been mostly showery and wet but definitely warmer at last! Isabel finished the spring clean of the shrub stock beds behind the office which looks so much better and we can see what we've got ready to go into the sales area. She also tidied up pour alpine troughs and got them out for display.

I’ve pondered what to do with this pig feeder since I bought it several years ago. I’ve thought about drilling holes in it and making it a planter or growing water plants in it, but it is quite shallow. But as with all great ideas, the solution came when I was thinking about something :D So I am going to float seasonal flowers in it starting with spring……

Light nights means Maisie gets post dinner ball throwing while we have a coffee - one happy dog as she lives for being in the back garden chasing her ball.

Some more detailed photos of the new pond plants now in stock. The water hawthorn is looking fab. Customers have been asking about oxygenators and horsetail we now have plenty in stock. Waterlilies coming soon.

Another busy day in the nursery and the weather was so much better and warmer. Thank you to all our lovely customers and visitors who have visited the nursery since we opened back up after winter. We appreciate all your lovely comments, your enjoyment of what we've created here at Quercus and seeing you find the right plants for your gardens. Hello to all our new followers on social media too.
David got the bridges built in the new woodland garden which we hope to open to our customers on Easter Saturday 😃 supervised by Maisie of course 😃
I managed to get my hands on a piece of Sarah's amazing creme egg brownie, fabulous 🙂
First grass cut of the season and so it begins.

What fab day off last Monday with perfect weather. We walked from the house up to the forts on Cademuir Hill, fantastic views all round and so quiet. Then back down via Spoon wood and Southpark woods. Maisie had a great time and great to finally do this one. 6 miles, great views, great weather. An afternoon spent tidying up the back back garden in the sun and chatting about what we will do there 🌞

The pig feeder is incredibly beautiful - quite surprising! The floating fresh flowers highlight its patina perfectly.
Glad to hear your season has started well.
