All the colours in the nursery gardens this week. I love the cherry flowers against that blue sky. The gardens might look quite bare at this time of year but there is lots to see when you take a wander and look around. Ever day there is more in flower and the borders get greener as leaves emerge. Its such an exciting joyful time of year full of hope. The weather is still very mixed, cold some days, warm on others, typical spring in Scotland.

In my own garden over the last couple of days bulbs are all coming into flower, I tidied up my pots of shady plants in the back garden and there is lots of colour in the front garden. Its great to see my own work coming alive since we moved in and seeing what else is in the garden that we haven't seen yet..... the ransoms were an unwelcome surprise!
Over the past few days I've been digging out all the ransoms that have seeded into the path in the back garden. They are growing prolifically under the hedge, so this is going to be an ongoing battle of wills..........

Behind the scenes - first stock bed finished :D
Now that the gardens have had their spring clean, my attention turns to the stock beds. I start at one end and work through all the batches of plants, sweeping and weeding the mypex as I go. Because I am a neatness and organisational freak 🙄 the stock beds are alphabetical, this does make it much easier for me and customers to find plants too though :)
Each batch of plants gets weeded, fed, top dressed with fresh compost, new price labels and an information sign if I have one printed 🌿
If there are any new plants, propagated and potted in the tunnel last year and ready to pot, these come out and are potted and put in their relevant place in the alphabetical scheme of things 🌱
Any batches needing potted, get done now too. It all seems very OTT organised but it means everything has a space to go 🌹
I can see what has come through winter ok, what needs attention, is dead or needs more propagation doing 🌼

Out for a walk |
Isabel got all out alpine containers tidied up last week and put out in the nursery for display. We have a good range of alpines in stock, all propagated from our own plants here in the nursery gardens. You can see them in the sales area and they are always changing through the season depending on whats looking good.
The seasonal tables have a very purple vibe going on this week loving those snakes head Fritallaria. It was lovely to see visitors enjoying sitting on all the benches in the nursery gardens, enjoying the sun, making some purchases and enjoying lots of garden and plant chat. AND don't forget our new woodland garden is now open

What a beautiful day for getting my auricula primulas out of the tunnel after winter. I hoping David wasn't joking this morning when he said he'd build me an auricula theatre
Testing the track today with Ben and Cheryl. Great to spend the afternoon with them at the nursery and then dinner at the Crown in Peebles this evening family
A much needed and lovely day off with hubby to the east side of the borders, a walk to Duddo standing stones near Coldstream and a wander around Norham Castle. Maisie enjoyed her walks and exploring the castle – fearless dog
