"See the falling snowflakes drifting by the pane............

......Winging glasslike angels falling just like rain.

The air is crisp and stirring, the freshly fallen snow.

And the warmth I'm feeling inside, sets my eyes aglow.

This winter's day has come before and will come again.

It finds it's way to Earth every now and then." -  Linda A. Copp, A Winter's Day

I was looking for a garden bench with a contemporary look for the topiary garden in the nursery garden. When I saw this bench I knew it was the one. Made by Haydn Craig Furnature in Yorkshire who you can find on Etsy. A great piece of well made furnature and hand delivered! Make sure you enjoy a seat on it when you visit. Not long now until we open on 4th March. You can find Craig through the link below:

A wet, drizzly, rainy day and time to catch up with all the tasks needing done undercover. All the annual seeds got sown and put in the tunnel and the wee shop covered area got a good clean ready to be filled up for when we open. I enjoy sowing seeds, its a job that means hope and planning for the coming season and all the flowers and veg we can look forward to enjoying.

Over Friday and today I got the borders on the top terrace around the stock beds cut back and tidied and that is the gardens finished with their spring clean for this year. Now its on with filling the sales area for opening on the 4th. We have loads of fab plants for you to browse and buy and of course our wee shop and pots.

We are very much looking forward to opening up again for the 2023 season after our winter break when we open on Saturday 4th March with our usual hours of Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm.
We have lots of lovely plants growing on to sell, old favourites and lots of new varieties to tempt you with. Trees, shrubs, fruit, perennials, shade plants, wildflowers, bamboo, conifers and grasses (herbs and alpines will be out later in March once the weather improves and water plants in April) and I am constantly bringing out new plants to the sales area. Our wee shop and pot area will be stuffed full of lots of lovely items. These include plant supports, bird feeders and baths, bug hotels, garden sundries, string, gift cards, vases, gift vouchers and peat free compost. All of which are made from natural materials and recycled if possible. You can see what is available on the shop page of our website www.quercusgardenplants.co.uk
We have a new garden - the woodland Garden – which we hope to have finished in spring for you to enjoy. With dappled shade, bridges across the stream, a natural woodland on one side and cultivated woodland garden on the other, you will see lots of unusual and interesting woodland plants to inspire you if you have shady areas in your own garden. The Garden railway will be running during the summer and the timetable is on our facebook page here and website events page.
You can find out more about us in our about section here or on our website www.quercusgardenplants.co.uk, you can also find us on Instagram
Please also visit Junkshopantiques where you can find Viki and her gorgeous shop full of amazing antiques, textiles and more. The Whitmuir cafe is open the same days as we are where the food is amazing and there is also the Whitmuir gift shop. There is lots happening on the farm now its under new ownership with new animals, a playpark and walks all coming soon.
Finally thank you for all your support in all ways and I am really looking forward to seeing and catching up with all our customers soon xx

One of the tasks today was to fill up the tree line in the sales area with one of every fruit and ornamental tree we have in stock. We have more than one of most of the trees so if you are looking for more please do ask. We also have a few fan trained fruit trees, apple, pear and plum, info on the website page link below.
You can see what fruit trees we have in stock here:

Who's excited for spring? I was filling the seasonal tables at the sales area entrance today, ready for opening next weekend. All those colours, the blue skies and the birdies singing their wee hearts out in the hedge filled me with joy. We're not out of the winter weather yet but today felt full of spring promise ❤

Isabel and I were going potty today getting the pot display sorted and priced. I am loving the new ribbed terracotta pots, they are solid, frost proof and a great price for their size and thickness at £30.00. I'll certainly be using a couple in the nursery. We have our usual bowls in 3 sizes, traditional glazed pots in 3 sizes, cylindrical pots in 3 sizes, traditional terracotta posts in 4 sizes and 3 sizes of terracotta saucers.

A lovely afternoon on Sunday with Ben and Cheryl. A walk on the beach at Ayr and then dinner in Kilmarnock. Great to catch up

A very long day on Monday with a trip to Islay, tagging along with David to keep him company, and take a share of the driving if required on a site visit on the island. An 8am start and a nearly 4 hour drive to Kenacraig, a now very familiar route for many surveys, then the 2 hour ferry to Islay. Maisie and I went for a walk from one end of the bay at Port Ellen to the other, 5 miles in all to Carraig Fhada light house, a square one, just for a change. We saw wild goats and seals, walked on the beach, through the woods and then met up with David once he’d finished his survey. Back on the ferry at 8pm then the long drive home, arriving at 2.30am, getting too old for this malarky lol.
