Good bye and Thank you 2022

Three for you today - a study of trees 🙂

The weathers been wet, damp, cold and windy since the that, so walks have been short and not too far, dodging the rain and hurying home to warm up. A walk along the river and back through Southpark woods. Lots of ice about on the paths but at least we managed to dodge the rain showers!

Venice at sunset, this one started well
and then wet down hill, the water
in the foreground ended up a mess, very annoying
🙁

A wet cold day means a day for catching up on admin and filling in new diaries 😃 I love a new diary, a new beginning, making plans for the year. Planning and orgainising for the next few months and into the new year in the nursery. 2023 how is that possible?
Its also a good time to start ordering all the seeds for 2023 for nursery stock and for growing in the nursery garden 😃

A visit to Seacliff beach on Thursday - a hidden gem in East Lothian, no idea how I've never been here in 50 years of visiting East lothian! Any hoo, it has Britains smallest harbour carved out of the rock with a wee channel into it. Great views of the Bass Rock and a different view of Tantallon Castle. We go the best of the weather too. Lunch at Smeaton Nursery which is always good.

Contemplating colours for 3 rooms.......

Today's painting - I've got my eye on you

In the 5 months weve lived in Peebles we've seen the extrenes of the river - so low in summer, frozen over and now in flood. The river was up about 5 feet this afternoon when we were out walking Maisie, it's now even higher with areas of Peebles flooded. Huge chunks of tree washing past and the bridges inaccessible! Mother nature is a force to be reckoned with 💪

I made the most of a very wet day and took down the christmas decs, much as I love them its always time to take them down and get ready for a fresh new year. Moving into the new year with a basket of paper whites from Cloudberry Flowers, just up the road. Catherine grows many many beautiful flowers for selling, weddings and available in her wee shop in her driveway. She did the flower petal confetti for our wedding too.

The day after. Thankfully the water went down about 5 feet over night. Apparently this is the highest the river has been here in 30 years reaching 10.5 above its usual summer level at its peak! So much damage and rubbish left behind though. Washed out paths, broken fences and flooded homes. Our thoughts go out to those in Tweed Green starting 2023 with flood damage in their homes.

Last painting of 2022, I give you a Hellebore
