A Winter Wonder Land

Much as its inconvenient and very very cold, this snow is very pretty and helps us get into the festive spirit. Will it last until christmas? Who knows. I can only hope the snow is helping insulate the plants at our nursery against the very low temperatures we are experiencing!

Bringing home the christmas tree

Winter has arrived at our cottage

Maisie is still chaising her ball though,
 can you see her

A wintery walk along the River Tweed, we didn't go far as neither of us feeling 100% still but good to be out in the fresh air and see Peebles in the snow, our first winter here.

Sunday and a snowy walk along to the Gytes and back. David is still not well, having got the same lurgy I had last week, having said that I'm still not 100%. Way behind in winter nursery work now and of course the snow and freezing temps will delay things too. Not much progress in the house either, and all those local walks we were going to explore while off haven't happened either. Enjoying the blue skies and snow though and not having to drive anywhere.

A walk in the hills, when the summit seems to get further away, the nearer you get - first painting in over 2 weeks!

OMG how cold was it today! More than cold enough to freeze the small sphericals off a brass monkey! Between -15 and -10C overnight here and not above -6C all day. You know its cold when there's ice flowing past on the river! Still Narnia beckoned, its all very pretty but will be very damaging to my nursery and plant stock 🙁
Todays walk was up to the hardware shop to get some hooks for christmas lights, we live such an exciting life! Back by the Cuddy and the Tweed, across Fotheringham bridge and home. Too cold to be out long. Plus twit dog fell in the river so it was a quick walk home, not that she was bothered, Crazy Maisie!

Narnia beckons

Making good use of a freezing snowy day

Spoiling you today, a second painting, how about a juicy green apple?

Today something colourful and to remind us this frozen
winter wonderland will pass and we will have flowers again.

Today's walk up through Southpark woods and back along the river. The sun in the woods hitting the beech leaves, the breathtaking cold, the ice on the river!!! Crazy and beautiful in equal measure 🙂

  1. Looks absolutely lovely - that castle! What a fairytale view!
Very Christmassy but I hope your plants will survive this. We are experiencing the opposite, after two weeks hard winter (-10 degrees) it is now raining and just above zero. Fluctuating frost-thaw is not good either, so I hope it would be one or the other. It is still long time until spring.
