Up jumped the pumpkin, And this is what he said:
I'm a dingle dangle pumpkin With a flippy floppy hat.
I can shake my stem like this, And shake my vine like that."
Had a wee chat with this lot over the gate at the back of the nursery. Told them as long as they stay on their side of the fence we'll get along just fine.......
I did mention burgers as I walked away, hopefully they will take the hint.
I swear this dog is part squirrel!!!!
Its ok Mum you just keep gardening, I'm just gonna climb this tree......

I'm getting on with the autumn tasks in the nursery and one of yesterdays was to cover up the Gunnera for winter.
This is done by making a tent with its own leaves to keep off the frost. The gunnera has done surprisingly well over the 4 years it's been planted. They can be susceptible to very cold winters but so far it's loving where it is
I will have them in stock next year, as the young uns are looking good in the poly tunnel
Another task to get done this autumn is to deal with another drainage hot spot or lack of.....
Having done two drains in other parts of the nursery this year which have worked extremely well it was now time to tackle this very badly wet area where plants keep dying off
If you've visited the nursery on a wet day you might have noticed the "STREAM" that flows over the path in the scented garden. Not only is this a nuisance it also washes away the soil around the slabs and has made it difficult to get plants to survive in this part of the garden. Plant drowning is not what we are about
So today I started digging out the new drain and the water almost immediately started flowing through it which was reassuring
Next week I'll hopefully get the pipe and gravel in and it all put back together and this corner can get planted up in the spring
Belated birthday lunch out for Betty. Drove up to Linlithgow and took these two out for lunch at South Queensferry. Great to catch up with them and all the usual banter Yes Betty did eat all that sundae Home to find David has finished fixing the hall floor yay!
Renovation update. David has finished fixing the hall floor and sorting the electrics underneath, Yay. As with many things in the house there are many layers of old stuff that's never been removed when it's been updated. So David has spent time working out what cables are actually still in use, removing all the old disused sockets in the bathroom cupboard and making it all safe and making sense. All the damaged boards have been sorted and all the loose ones screwed down. So now we are ready to sand the floor and varnish it which will get done in a couple of weeks time After that I just need to paint the skirting boards and hang all the pictures and we're done with this room
Great to have Ian down to visit, lovely lunch in the Crown. good to catch up
