Award ceremonies, celebrations and boat trips - a quiet life? Nah

Trying to catch up after two very busy weeks including our house move, an award ceremony, a wedding aniversary, a birthday, a boat trip, a charity open day and unpacking a house and running two businesses! Whew!

Last Wednesday I was presenting the prizes for Peebles in Bloom after judging the gardens last week. A lovely walk up to the high street, another benefit of our new home. 5 minutes walk from my favourite high street and views like this.

Found another old wall paper hidden in a cupboard

Not sure what to make of it all

A lovely meal out for our anniversary at Osso Restaurant in Peebles. Great food and service. Loved being able to walk there from our new house and share a bottle of wine. A leisurely wander back across the river and home.
Maybe I've been a secret townie all along after nearly 30 years living in the deep dark countryside 🙄🤣

Tasted the BEST bakewell tart ever today, and I like to think I've eaten quite a few to know 🤣 and the best bit, it's made by Sarah at Whitmuir cafe 😍 looking forward to having this amazing food at Whitmuir soon. The Thai soup was also excellent. Going to have to do more digging 🤣

I can't help it, in amongst moving and sorting I've creating mt first bit of garden here at Railway Cottage. The back wall of the house is quite shady so a perfect place for some pots of shade plants and some of my gorgeous ferns :) We have Adiantum aleuticum 'Imbricatum', Adiantum venustum, Epimedium 'Spine Tingler', Helleborus 'Lentin Beauty', Hosta 'Devon Green', Polystichium aculiatum, Polystichium setiferum and Skimmia confusa 'Kew Green'

Plants that normal struggle in our colder wetter conditions here in the nursery have loved the more "exotic" hot weather we've had this summer and the milder weather of last winter. They have put on lots of growth and are flowering well. its great to see them do what they should, hopefully I might get some seed from some of them this year too 🙂

Agapanthus Headbourne hybrids

Diascia personata

Echinacea purpurea 'Rubinstern'

Eryngium 'Blue Glitter'

Eryngium agavifolium

Exotics loving the hot weather

Penstemon pinifolius

A fab day out last Monday with my boys and Betty. Stayed overnight with Jamie and Natasha then an early train on which we joined Ben, and into Glasgow Central. A walk along to the science centre where we met Betty and Daniel. Onto the coach which took us to Greenock where we boarded the Waverly ❤️
Its a very long time since I've sailed on this boat, so great to share it with my steam loving boys. Second breakfast on the boat, sitting upstairs enjoying the views, lunch, sheltering from the increasing wet weather. Sods law huh? 🌧🌧🌧
We sailed from Greenock to Largs, then onto Ayr and Girvin before heading out for a sail around Ailsa Craig which was very interesting. Back to Ayr where everyone headed back to their homes and Jamie and I got the train back to Johnston, dinner and then a late drive home in torential rain and flooded roads for me.
8 hours on the boat, which was brilliant. Love a day out ⛴️
I've photobombed you with photos and vids because we still have no Internet and it was the easiest way 😊 enjoy x

Tuesday and a day at home unpacking, putting up pictures and awaiting the delivery of our wardrobes that were delivered not delivered last week, long story! The delivery guys this week were great and very helpful unlike last week! Adam came down to see the new house and was a great help getting stuff done.

I know my balls up there, just need to work out how to get up there
