Glorious garden, perfect plants and a trip to Arran

I love an accidental colour combination - Aquilegia 'Volcano' and Astrantias in the railway garden this week. I'm hoping to save seeds from the Aquilegia and have plants for sale next year. Watch this space.

Looking good in the nursery gardens this week, lots of pinks, blues and whites at this time of year. The nursery gardens are such a joy this year, I am so happy with them, seeing all our hard work come to fruition and seeing visitors and customers enjoying them and expressing how muc they have enjoyed their visit is just amazing, it surprises me every time, I just to do what I do and love, spreading my love of gardening, creating and plants. It truly is amazing to hear so many compliments about what we have created - THANKYOU.

Time to do the chive chop. These plants have flowered beautifully for weeks and the bees have enjoyed them too. Now it's time to cut them back and in a couple of weeks there will be a whole new bunch of leaves for cooking with and maybe a few extra flowers to enjoy 😚🐝

Grasses add so much to a border - movement, texture, height, different shapes and colours and they soften gaps between other plants.
This is Stipa tennuissima and Calamagrostis 'Avalanche' in the back ground.
You can read more about all the grasses we have in stock on the Grasses page on our website

Uh huh........
Don't look now Dad, we've been spotted
Just look the other way Maisie, just act cool
I can't Dad, my ears give us away
Just stay still, she might not spot us through the plants
Dad she's a gardener, of course she's going to spot us through the plants, she can spot a weed at a hundred yards 🙄🙄🙄
🤣🤣🤣

A day trip to Arran on Monday. David had a site survey to do for work so we made a day of it. An early start at 6am to get over to the ferry and a lovely sailing to Arran. I took Maisie for a walk while David did his survey and then we had the rest of the day to explore. A lazy lunch at Blackwaterfoot overlooking the sea and a paddle in the sea teaching Maisie to swim. Then off around the rest of the island with a stop at Sannox to paddle in a river and more swimming for Maisie. Fish and chips by the sea for dinner before heading back to the ferry which ended up being delayed for over an hour. But we got on it once sorted and home just after 10pm. A long but fab day out.

Tuesday - the heat! But another car load away to the tip, charity shop and auctioneer. Acing this clear out downsizing lark. If the nursery fails through lack of water I know what my next career will be 😳
Another roll of bubble wrap opened, more boxes packed. Not long now!

  1. I'm sure all the compliments you get are for a very good reason, you have so much interesting stuff going on, the plants, the different garden areas. Looks great! You have many of my favourite plants too, so good to see how you combine them.
Ahhh, Arran, that's a place I've wanted to visit for a long time! Already the island's silhuette is breathtaking, and then being there and seeing all that varied and lovely scenery must be beyond words. Hopefully one day soon I'll get there.
