"Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May."

The weather has been very mixed and strong winds for a couple of days before our charity day were not welcome. Fortunately there was no damage to all those delecate stems and the gardens look great. This is such a great time of year in the garden, the colours are so fresh and vibrant. Its hard to choose favourites so I'm just gonna photo bomb you with pretty plant pictures from this week. Enjoy!

Behind the scenes - we grow a lot of our stock from seed. This can be seed sown in pots in the tunnel or seedlings lifted from where they have germinated in the nursery gardens then put into plug trays to grow on.
Sam has been working away in the tunnel potting all the seedlings, hundreds and hundreds of them into 9cm pots. They will spend the rest of the year in the tunnel developing a good root system and will come over to the nursery to be sold next year. Some varieties do grow very quickly and might even be for sale this year.

Its that time of year when we gardeners are busy tying up plants and tying in climbers and looking for our balls of string! I still haven't found the ball of string I lost in the nursery gardens last year and that's after a full spring clean!
So this year I've made this. Its hanging in our work area and not only is functional but decorative too. Just use as long a cane as you need for all your balls of string, some wire and a hook to hang it up. Job done 🙂

Lily flower

When Bracken died last October and we were arranging his cremation with the vet, we were given a packet of forget-me-nots. I planted them in this trough in the nursery and they are now flowering like mad. Forget-me-nots are beautiful flowers, the clear blue of the petals, the yellow eye and their long flowering period.
We might have mad Maisie now, but Bracken is never far from my thoughts and firmly held in my heart and memory.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out last Sunday to support our charity day. The nursery was full of people and we loved the buzz of the place being busy and the generosity of everyone who visited. Lots of new visitors and regulars, family and friends, it was great to see you all ❤
Big thanks to Fiona and Sam who organised the book and succulent table and Betty who was chief Maisie wrangler and to David, Daniel and Calam for running the railway 🚂🚃🚃🚃
But mostly to all you fabulous people who helped us raise £366. 48 for our charity 😍🥰🤩

Today's endeavor - an orchid

Last week Mrs blackbird was sitting on her next this week there were 5 fat chicks peering out at me when I went to get the lawn mower out!
Ferns are unfurling along the river and in the woods when we went for our walk today.

Slightly abstract daffodils today 😊
