May, whizzing by, blink and you'll miss it

Oh my goodness, how behind am I on my blog, 3 weeks! Thats how much! Its such a busy time in the nursery and lots of exciting stuff going on behind the scenes which I hopefully can talk about soon.

Anuual veg, herbs and flowers are now available in the sales area. Grown here in the nursery, mainly from organic or heritage seeds there is lots to choose from and who can say veg is boring, look at those colours! Sold in strips there is anything between six and twelve seedlings in each strip depending on the variety 🌱

They always sell fast and are very popular, so don't delay 🙂
This year we have:
Leeks, baby carrots, 3 types of lettuce, 3 types of kale, purple sprouting broccoli, beetroot, 2 types of chard, peas, dwarf beans, runner beans and french beans 🥦🥬🥕
In herbs we have dill, chervil, flat leaved parsley, curly parsley and caraway 🍃🌿
In flowers we have marigolds, 4 types of sweet pea, sunflowers, corn margolds, Nigella, borage (blue and white), 4 types of nasturtiums, poppies and Nemophylla 🌸🏵🌻

Swallows are back in the nursery! How do we know this? Because one heralded its arrival by flying right into the office as we were having lunch! As if to say, hello we're back 😃 Quickly rescued and back out side with a word in its ear about not nesting in our wee shop and sh*tting everywhere 😃

Brought my Amaryllis home from the nursery to enjoy in the house. The many faces of Maisie, including being armpit dog! No I dont know either 😃

Behind the scenes - on Saturday I got all the annuals planted in the nursery gardens. Its the result of 3 months of sowing the seeds, potting them into the strips they get sold in, rooting them through in the polytunnel and then barrowing them all over to the sales area where our lovely customers get the chance to buy well grown annual veg, herbs and flowers grown with passion from organic and heritage seeds and seeds sourced from small independent seed companies.
Some of all the varieties also get planted in the nursery gardens to show our customers what they do and to fill spaces with summer colour. Veg are planted in spaces in the flower beds, in the vertical planter and in the herb garden as are the annual herbs. Annual flowers are again used to fill in spaces in all the borders and some pots.
We still have a good selection of annuals for you to buy in the sales area, they look amazing 🙂

Happiness is a russell that's manages to sneak
3 hours in her humans bed, ratbag. This is what I woke up to 🤣

Walk on a stormy day

Day off on Monday and we headed east to escape the rain - just about. A great walk on Yellowcraigs beach, we were going to go to Dirilton Castle but the heavens opened so we visited Redhouse Nursery and had a lovely lunch in the wee cafe there. Meanwhile my amaryllis is almost open and we have a very strange pair of pets.

Its amazing how a day at home catching up on lots of stuff makes me feel more organised and ready to take on the week. A pile of admin for the nursery that I've ahem, been avoiding, done. Enjoying the wildflowers in the garden, managed to cut the grass between rain showers, totally on it this week 🙂 long may it last. Photos of various wildlife about the place at the end. Including a ridiculous dog, demanding cat and Mrs blackbird who has build a nest in amongst the cable of the hedge cutters!
