"Whilst August yet wears her golden crown............

 ........ Ripening fields lush- bright with promise;

Summer waxes long, then wanes, quietly passing

Her fading green glory on to riotous Autumn."

-  Michelle L. Thieme, August's Crown

Pretty late summer pinks in the nursery gardens this week. Can't believe the hot weather again, nice as it is, it does make watering challenging as water levels are very low after a long dry summer. Its always nice to get to this time of year where the pace lessens and the pressure is less and I can take time to enjoy what we've created. I'm catching up on lots of jobs. At this time of year I usually create a new border or garden but with all the uncertainty of the farm sale and our future here at Whitmuir I don't feel I can invest the time, effort or money in creating another garden when we might have to dig it all up next year. Its so frustrating as its setting our business back months, if not longer.

Allium lusitanicum and Stipa tennuissima

Astilbe chinensis var. tarquetii ‘Purpurlanze’

Persicaria amplexicaulis 'Rosea'

Sanguisorba 'Pink Brushes'

Tulbaghia violacea

Veronicastrum virginicum 'Erica'

I shopped local at The Flower Bee yesterday for a new houseplant for this lovely macramé hanger made by Natasha, Jamie's girlfriend for my birthday. Its now hanging in the living room window where the Peperomia will get enough light.

The weekends seem to come around so fast, where has another week gone? I've been busy catching up on tasks I haven't had time to do earlier in the year, good to get lots of ticks on the endless to do list. I've been collecting more seeds from the nursery garden and enjoying the late summer colours in the nursery and gardens. Propagation continues to build up lots of stock for next year (Fiona is giving me plenty challenges where to fit the pots of cuttings in the tunnel 😃 ) Sam was been busy weeding in the bottom terrace today and it looks so much better and less embarrassing 😃
We are open 10am to 5pm, Wednesday to Sunday, so pop along and visit, especially while the weather is so nice. We lots of lovely plants for sale, compost, pots and wee shop items.
Junkshopantiques is open 10 am to 4pm with lots of super gorgeous items in her shop and lots of chat.

Another great read from the The Boozy Book Club and another that has left me pondering the story and its characters for days.
