Sunshine on my mind

All the hard work in late winter and through spring pays off in summer and it certainly has this year. The nursery and gardens are looking their best this year and so many plants are dong exactly what I wanted when I planned each area of the gardens over the past six years. It gives me such joy to see it all looking like this and is the pay off for hard graft, stress and sheer determination through the year. I also love that I can share it with visitors to the nursery and hear their lovely feed back. The comments we get now are just so wonderful and make me feel happy, thank you.

Follow, follow, follow the yellow bark road.......... David has completed another long awaited project, topping up and finishing the path through the wildlife garden on the bottom terrace of the nursery gardens. It looks fab and great to have it finished right to the end of the winter garden, now I need to get that garden planted up!

I tidied up the wee library at the weekend and there are still lots of great books, RHS journals and other garden society journals. Bring 1 or a few books to swap, or take one away, read it and bring it back or make a donation to our charity can for a book you would like.
Recycling and raising money for charity and spreading the garden love.

A cloud! Always looking for a positive however small. Today was incredibly busy in the nursery for this time of year, so many great sales and lovely customers. Fiona we need to propagate more 😮 A customer came in to ask if I'd found a bracelet she'd lost which I had, and she had us both in tears with her relief, as it was of great sentimental value, my good dead for the day. It was really too hot for working (not complaining, nice to have a summer) after a week of working in the great but tiring heat but lovely to chat to customers. Bracken did his utmost to lie in the sun as much as possible, frying his tiny brain.

I'm loving the railway garden at the moment, considering its only a year old its filing out very well. The look of it is beginning to do what I wanted and I am loving all the grasses amongst the perennials. It just shows how quickly a garden can develop if you use the right plants for the garden conditions.

On Monday we had a 12 hour day to Bute and back. David had a building to survey on the island so we made it our day off together. The weather was glorious, with a sailing from Wemys to Rothesay. While David was doing his survey Bracken and I walked around the grounds and then walked down to the beach where we had a paddle, well I did, Bracken was reluctant despite the water being so warm. There were seals on the rocks and it was lovely to sit on a rock in the sun and enjoy the quiet. We walked back up to meet up with David and then headed off to Mount Stuart where we had a lovely lunch in the café and a walk around the gardens. Lovely to walk under the trees and get some much needed shade. A long day with lots of driving, but great to go somewhere we haven’t been 😊
