Yet walk with me where hawthorns hide the wonders of the lane

Flower and foliage colour and growth has really taken off over the past week. The gardens are looking fab and still so much more to grow and flower. Fiona and I have been working hard to create 100's and 100's of new plants, for this year and next year. I made significant progress in the stock beds this week, finishing the first half of the stock beds and moving onto the shade stock beds at last. These beds are shorter so I should get through them quite fast, though there is a lot of propagation to do. But I will feel less embarrassed about the state of the stock beds. Watering everywhere has been a full time job itself and David is upgrading our watering system to make things easier and so I can water more at one time.

We have some great books in the wee free garden library at the moment. We also have journals from the Hardy plant society and RHS journals. You can

~ Take a book, read it and bring it back and take another one
~ Take a book and leave a donation in our charity collection can

So many lovely books looking for a new home

Now that the weather has warmed up the nursery and gardens really are full of bugs, beasties and wildlife. We saw the first damsel flies of the year during the week, there are plenty bees and frogs, toads and newts every where. We are very much a wildlife haven.

No takeaway on Saturday night, David Dodds cooked his awesome chilli with all the sides including homemade guacamole, a pile of nachos, refried beans and some crusty bread 😁🌶🌶🌶

Our day off was mainly taken up with me going to the hairdresser and driving there and back. We did go for a walk up the hill behind the house when I got home and along the southern upland way for a wee while.. The hawthorn is glorious this year. There are quite a few pink flowering trees around us which is glorious.
