After a lovely day off at the beach before the crowds descend after lockdown it was back to the nursery on Wednesday and preparing for another busy week. The nights are still below freezing but the days have been gloriously warm and sunny. I spent Wednesday tidying and refilling the sales area. Its been well shopped and took the whole day to tidy and refill!

Looking good in the sales area this week:
Water plants including lots of lovely water lilies
Roses
Dwarf conifers
shrubs
fruit trees
grasses
plants for shade
and lots more
see you soon
Who else enjoyed that blue sky and warmth on Thursday?
Although night temperatures are still to be low for the next week, they are not to be below 0C here. Onwards and upwards. Work on tidying the stock beds progresses slowly, all the seeds for this year are almost sown, only about 30 packets to go I'm not even going to admit how many packets I've sown this year #plantaddict Meanwhile in the polytunnel I'm working through potting up last autumns cuttings, moving plants out to the nursery and I'm about to sort the tender summer interest plants like Penstemons, anthemis and Fuchsia microphylla which spend winter in the tunnel, getting them ready for sale in a months or so time when they can come out to the sales area.
Did you know its #PeatFreeApril ? Last year we made a commitment to only use peat free compost in the nursery and sell peat free compost to our customers. We also make our own compost to use in the gardens to top dress borders. This is made from all the green waste from the nursery and gardens. David has built a completely new industrial sized compost bin system this year to stream line our compost production for the gardens.

After dinner on Wednesday the weather was still lovely do we went off for a walk along the river and back through the woods. Plenty lambs in the fields and birds singing their wee hearts out.
On Friday I grabbed a coffee for lunch while there were no customers and took myself off for a wander around the nursery gardens, which I havent had time to do in over a week
I also wanted to get some photos of the wee pops of colour in the gardens. Everything is just waiting for warmer weather. Sadly the frogspawn in the wildlife pond has all been frosted, so no tadpoles but there were a few bees about in the sunshine.Caltha palustris 'Flore Pleno' |

So excited to get this months
The Boozy Book Club
box in the post yesterday. I work hard and it's nice to treat myself these days. One of the things I love is the box contents are themed around the book and are all from Scottish businesses. This month the Herringbone
cocktail is based on amaretto so it would be very rude not to buy the box lol. Also included were a pair of Snag Tights
, chocolate from Ocelot Chocolate
. Looking forward to reading the bok and enjoying all the goodies in the box One caught up with, 4 to go great to see my youngest son Daniel and Betty today it's been far too long. Another busy day in the nursery and the railway running. That bottle of wine at home is all mine. That's all I'm saying.
Its been a tiring and stressful few days and by the end of my 6 day week I was knackered. But David suggested we go for a walk after dinner so I dragged myself out with him. It was good to get a walk up the SUW with a lovely sky and chat through stuff. Loads and loads of lambs about too
On our day off we enjoyed a lovely afternoon with David's daughter Becky at the cottage. Its been 10 months since we last saw her because she lives in what has been one of the highest lockdown level areas. We had a walk along the river and through the woods, lunch and dinner, cat and dog cuddles and some country air for the city girl. It was lovely to catch up and exchange christmas presents!
