Christmas week, making the best of it

Monday and Christmas food shopping, fortunately the supermarket wasn't too bad and we were done and out the door in an hour. This was partly due to only catering for the two of us and not the usual eight or ten, sadly. The rest of the day was taken up with domestic chores then we headed out for dinner at Coltmans in Peebles. Technically this was both our businesses Christmas night out! The food and service were excellent, another great local eatery, alwasy good to support these places, more so this year.

I headed into the nursery on Tuesday for my last day before Christmas. I turned more of the compost heaps, fixed some broken bits and burnt the last of the hedge trimmings, the work area behind the office is looking much tidier now. On the way home I stopped off in Peebles to pick up all our goodies ordered from The Fat Batard Bakery. I was especially looking forward to the chocolate orange panettone, I love a good panettone, but a chocolate orange one is just a gift.

We had to go up to the nursery for a delivery on Wednesday and stopped of at the Leadburn Community woodland for a walk in between the showers. Decorated trees in the woods, great view of the Pentlands, abandoned building and railways and mad dog and husband! Home to marzipan the Christmas cake, make the decorations for the cake and a load of other tasks with the fires on making the cottage cosy.

This years Christmas cake, I felt we needed something jolly like some drunk robins

A completely different Christmas like so many people this year but we made the most if it. We got some beautiful gifts this year which are much appreciated, we saw two of the youngsters to exchange all the family gifts, we ate too much but feel blessed in our wonderful family and friends and for what we have. Finished off with a zoom call with my lot. Missed seeing Becky and Adam and hope it's not too long before we can all be together again 😍

I hope your christmas was the best it could be in a challenging year. We can only hope 2021 gets better as it goes on.
