Friends, Figs and Pineapples

September beckons with dryer weather, warm days and cool evenings. The leaves are on the turn already, the gardens are turning again. Oranges, yellows and reds are the dominant colours, grasses come into their own and the rose hips are turning a glossy red.

I love autumn, its a combination of several things. The sunny cool days, the changing colours of the leaves on the trees, wrapping up in cosy jumpers, hot chocolate, less pressure in the nursery and gardens, a smell in the air of fading gardens and turning leaves, that feeling of a cool morning, an undefinable feeling, its just there.

On Friday night I headed to Linlithgow to take Granny out for dinner for her birthday, joined by my oldest and youngest. great to catch up with them and some banter too. The sky cleared and there were lovely views of the Pentland hills at twilight.

I had some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket and I've also been waiting to find the right Indian blanket in Viki's shop. Today I spied 2 gorgeous blankets and couldn't make my mind up! So I bought one and birthday money the other lol. Love them. Viki has indian blankets, made from old saris in every colour and patern imaginable, there is one or even two for everyone. You can find her shop opposite my nursery at Whitmuir. More info here: Junkshop Antiques

Figs, friends and pineapples. Visited The Pineapple near Airth today as David had a survey to do there. We ran into, totally unexpectedly, a dear friend I haven't seen in ages, it was great to catch up. A fresh fig grown outdoors here in Scotland which tasted amazing. The weather wasn't as wet as forecast, and another interesting place visited.
